The Giants want to help Jason Pierre-Paul, and they seem hurt that he won’t let them. But once they arrived, Pierre-Paul rejected their services.

The Giants remain unsure as to when that will be.
Jason Pierre-Paul is getting his own medical care and rehab near his home in South Florida after the July 4 fireworks accident that cost him his right index finger, a source told ESPN, and at this point has no timetable for returning to the Giants. Obviously, that’s not an ideal scenario for Pierre-Paul, so there likely would have to be some sort of agreement between player and team before Pierre-Paul signed the tender and showed up at training camp.
Mara, whose family has owned and operated the Giants for decades, added that he has “no idea” when Pierre-Paul will report to camp.

“He has told people that he’s fine and he’s going to be ready to play, but until we see the hand, we’re just not sure”, Mara said.
If Pierre-Paul were to sign the one-year contract, and then fail his physical, the Giants would have the option to put him on the non-football injury list – forcing the defensive end to sit out at least the first six games of the season. Shortly after the fireworks incident, two members of the Giants staff traveled to Miami to visit Pierre-Paul in the hospital but were turned away.
Overall, this situation remains a messy one and Mara’s comments don’t provide clarity to much of anything, except for the fact that the Giants are still pretty much operating in the dark.
Mara told the Post the Giants won’t discuss a long-term deal with Pierre-Paul right now and that while the franchise tag is still on the table the Giants have to examine Pierre-Paul before making any decisions about what to do next. Mara stated his disappointment in Pierre-Paul and the way subsequent affairs have been handled.

“Well, the first thought and concern we all had was for JPP’s well-being”, Mara said.
