Although a functional prosthetic hand is non-option for Pierre-Paul on the field, it does prove that there are means by which people can sustain normal lives despite debilitating conditions.

Hailey Dawson’s first pitch to her favorite player, complete with fist bump and a hug. Pierre-Paul and the Giants have spoken, something that wasn’t the case immediately after his fireworks accident, but Pierre-Paul hasn’t signed his franchise tag while he continues rehabbing in Florida. And while Pierre-Paul’s situation is vastly different that Hailey’s, there’s no denying how or why he draws inspiration from it.

The only other posting from Pierre-Paul since the accident was a photo of his son that he also posted on Instagram last week.

The important thing to remember here is that the six-week recovery timetable was an estimate, and so there’s no reason to assume he’s getting the bandages off his hand Wednesday.

Yesterday, we posted a piece on Hailey Dawson, a five-year old suffering from Poland Syndrome which led to her hand being underdeveloped. The first picture may or maybe not intentionally cut off at his hands.

However, Pierre-Paul did not communicate with the Giants in the days following the accident as the club attempted to evaluate the health of the defensive end.
