Jason Pierre-Paul tells Giants he’ll get himself healthy and be back
Coughlin did not seem to mind that he seems to be one of the last people on the organizational phone chain for Pierre-Paul to speak with.

Nunn doesn’t know how effective Pierre-Paul will be when or if he returns, but he has joked about the accident with the player. Robert Nunn, Pierre-Paul’s position coach, has regular text messages with him.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Giants coach Tom Coughlin said after practice on Saturday that he finally spoke with injured defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. “And his response has been, ‘Coach, I am good”.
Despite all the communication, Nunn said he – like the rest of the Giants’ coaches, front office and medical staff – doesn’t know the extent of Pierre-Paul’s injury. Whatever he needs, just let us know how we can help.
The Giants also could agree to pay him for the six games, but Pierre-Paul – who stonewalled the team’s efforts to see or communicate with him for the first three weeks after the incident – appears intent on staying away and recovering on his own.
“I just want to know where he is from an emotional and mental standpoint”, Nunn said.
“I am anticipating talking to him perhaps before the end of the week”, Coughlin said. Everyone has their beliefs on what occurred, what ought to have occurred – make of it what they need to. In his mind, Pierre-Paul has been through a lot. He had his right index finger amputated as a result of the accident, which could lead to JPP being ready to return sooner than he otherwise would have.
If Pierre-Paul’s thumb is damaged beyond fix, those doctors say his playing career would be over.

He has yet to sign his $14.813 million franchise tag tender and remains without a contract. He sounded good and sounded like he wanted to get back here. We talked about we miss him in meetings and busting his chops in meetings, and we kind of laugh about it. That’s kind of where it goes. “He’s looking forward to coming, he’s anxious to be here, but he’s not going to come until he feels like he’s ready to be able to play”, Coughlin said. However, if JPP tells him something in confidence, it does not get shared. I sort of sustain with him like that day by day or each different day, only a textual content, and it is often about one thing aside from soccer.
