Jasper Cillessen Is The Latest Goalkeeper To Be Linked With Barcelona

But his potential move to the Etihad Stadium is now on hold due to a knee injury sustained by fellow Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with the Germany global likely to be out for at least three weeks.

Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Balague says the injury to Ter Stegen has delayed matters but expects the deal to go through upon his return.

“We are going to think about it, we have time”.

“Barca manager Luis Enrique could be tempted into making a swoop for Joe Hart and he may use City’s interest in Bravo to come to an agreement on the England global”.

And he is expected to start again on Saturday, when Luis Enrique’s men square off against Real Betis in their opening fixture of the new La Liga campaign.

Cillessen would be a fine addition to the Barca squad to provide competition and cover for Ter Stegen, especially if he can iron out the mistakes from his game. Ter Stegen will return after the worldwide break, at which point I see Bravo going.

With FC Barcelona reportedly set to sell one of their stars in the near future, here is who they could replace him with.

Jones added that talks with Valencia for initial goalkeeping target Diego Alves stalled as he is also considering a move to Sevilla.

While Spanish newspaper Sport remain adamant about how this would be a big step up in the career of Cillessen, the other players linked point to the fact that Barcelona are looking for a goalkeeper who would be second choice to Ter-Stegen.
