Jay Garrick Arrives on ‘The Flash’ Tonight!
This episode brings in lot of the comic book mythology. How do you deal with balancing fan expectations versus the show’s universe which sometimes can’t be exactly like the books? On the other hand, theres nothing to say that the changes to Wells life on Earth 2 werent in other ways perhaps a new affinity for Greek yogurt and hes still an Eobard Thawne-copy for a few reason. Keep reading for more information on Harrison Wells, Jay Garrick’s silly origin, and that surprise appearance. There’s a nod to the cover of “The Flash” #123, for instance… Just because you say you are here to help doesn’t mean you are. And that was a pitch from the beginning, that if we could figure out a way to recreate that, that was definitely something we wanted to do. I’m excited to see how the writers have chosen to reinterpret and combine the two characters.

Over the course of the episode Barry tried to push Team Flash away so he didn’t endanger anyone else’s lives but he was forced to accept their help when Al Rothstein aka Atom-Smasher (Adam Copeland), a meta-human that could grow in size and had super-strength. And so he very much needs Barry.
Barry apologizes to Jay and thanks him for his patience. Where should we start?! Something tells me his knowledge might come in handy against a new villain as well. “We’re going to focus on Cisco for a little bit”. Yeah, he’s the teacher to him. And I really like Grant [Gustin].
Barry asks about the results of the tests on Jay, and Caitlin reports no sign of the Speed Force.
Like last week, Iris West acted as the voice of reason when Barry wanted to work alone. Who do you think is faster: Barry or Jay? He says Zoom will do whatever it takes to be the only speedster “in any world”. But given his background as a scientist, he’s able to put that into play. So why doesn’t he just travel through the breach and do it himself? So that also deepens and strengthens that sort of coach/athlete dynamic. “That’s partly where Caitlin comes into play, to help him with something”. Barry and the team must decide if they can trust this stranger even as they face yet another powerful meta-human. Does that develop into anything more? I think they’re going to explore that a little bit.
TS: Jay finds himself as kind of a regular member of the S.T.A.R. Labs team. Can you talk about a few of what you’re hoping to explore with that relationship and balancing it with Iris and Barry? Iris and Barry are meant to be, but it seems their path to love has seemingly been curved.
Todd Helbing: We’re in the Flash-verse so anything’s possible.
Will we see more universes than Earth-1 and Earth-2 since there’s so many breaches this season?
There is also a new addition to Central City this week in the form of Patty Spivot.
What can you tell us about Zoom? “He’s a speed demon”.
Fortunately for Barry and Team Flash, Wells isn’t present in their current time, and possibly not their time line. “He’s the scariest speedster on the planet”. The short version is Zoom wants to kill Barry and Garrick can’t let that happen. However, after having opened the portal, it looks like Zoom will be wreaking havoc in Barry’s world, too. Are there any good people that might also come through? “That’s going to start to sneak up on him”. Luckily, it had sailed through the black hole in the Season 1 finale and Cisco had recovered it. Garrick says he has had it since the “War of the Americas”. He says Wells gave him the powers and everything Wells did was evil. When do I tell them?
How off the chessboard is Barry’s dad at this point? The device was used over and over again until 1985’s Crisis on Infinite Earths cleaned house, erasing 40 or more years of continuity errors and multiple universes with it. a few characters like Garrick were popular enough to stick around, though.
I want to go back to that scene where they’re explaining Earth-1 and Earth-2, and the multiverse. What does that look like, with 52 different choices. After the episode we are taken to what seems to be one of the alternate realities.
Aaron Helbing: Would Jay always have that helmet in Earth-17? “Your world is in danger”, Garrick warned, but from what? It’s always a possibility. Actually, I had never ever considered that before! It’s saying that, we all laugh about how that’s sort of a hard combination of sounds to get out of your mouth.
Wait, that was Earth 2?
