Jay Leno Disguises Himself As An Uber Driver
In what’s either a promotional stunt for his new CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage or something that many thought was inevitable, Jay Leno will fill in for Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. The undercover Uber driving campaign was part of a promotion for Jay Leno’s Garage, which will be heading to CNBC starting October 7.

Leno’s passion for cars (and his airplane hangar full of them) is well known, and he uses that as an excuse to kibitz with like-minded pals, and drive way-cool vehicles.
The Tonight Show airs at 11:35 p.m. You can see a preview of Leno’s appearance in the photos above and below. He’s earned a trip on his own terms.
Although this eight-episode lark, which started as a YouTube series, is essentially just the latest in a number of boys-and-their-toys shows that roll off the assembly line at channels like Discovery, Leno brings a genial comic flair to the proceedings.
It would also have been one of the biggest TV events of the year being that Leno and Letterman were part of one of the most famed rivalries in late night television. Their shared role model Carson didn’t leave them much of a guide.
Leno seems to be following the roadmap of fellow auto aficionado Seinfeld, combining frequent stand-up appearances and with a modest, tightly focused show created to get laughs by sharing a personal interest. And the publicist pitched it, all right, second guest.
