Jay Leno returns to late night: Who has the best monologue?

The Tonight Show fans are definitely buzzing about Jay Leno’s appearance with Jimmy Fallon, and it sounds as if many are excited to tune in to Jay Leno’s Garage to see how his new effort goes.

Leno’s appearance was capped off when Fallon joined him onstage to trade off “The economy is so bad jokes”.

And if the Republican race comes down to Jeb Bush against Donald Trump, it will be like “the tortoise and the bad hair”. Leno returned to the Tonight Show, sending Conan O’Brian off to TBS.

He left for a short time in 2009 to host The Jay Leno Show. and had his last episode on Tonight in February 2014.

Nowadays, late night is a love fest, with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon, Trevor Noah, Seth Meyers, Larry Wilmore, embroiled in nothing more than mutual respect and friendly banter.

“(Fallon) The economy is so bad Hillary Clinton wants people to look through her deleted emails to see if there’s any from that Nigerian prince”.

After likening Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley’s 2% in the polls to “tying with two percent milk”, Leno pivoted to the crowded Republican field.

The Tonight Show has arguably never been better now that Jimmy Fallon has taken over and added golden segments, such as Thank You Notes, True Confessions, Box of Lies, Slapjacks, and of course, the noted Lip Syncing Battle. “I never had any problems with the guy, but he chose to go after me”.

All he has to do is assure them that “Jay Leno’s Garage”, debuting at 10 p.m. EDT Wednesday on CNBC, won’t veer off the road. I’m surprised the guy didn’t shoot himself in the head.

In this high octane series premiere, Jay Leno revisits the golden era of American muscle cars. I just said, ‘No, that’s kind of silly’. The monologue was a little political, with cracks about Obamacare, Osama Bin Laden, the economy, and even a crack about the Kardashians.
