Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Friday night he has ruled out re-signing the polarizing defensive end after one tumultuous year.
Per an early Friday afternoon report, the Cowboys and Cleveland Browns are discussing a trade for the first pick in the second round, No. 32. Thus the Broncos landed the likely successor to Peyton Manning.
“To the extent that we can interpret the picks that we’ve made as to how I felt when I said we’re closer to (2014) than (2015), then you can interpret it that way”, Jones said.
New Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith hinted he could play in 2016 in spite of the concern around a knee injury suffered in college.
Smith, however, is now just 20-years-old and will not be rushed back into the game.
The team selected Dak Prescott out of Mississippi State in the 4th round, and he’s sure to be a candidate for the team’s backup QB in training camp.
Smith told dallascowboys.com that he wasn’t anxious about when he would be drafted – he just wanted to be drafted.
Smith may never be the same player he was and that gave teams plenty of reasons to pause when it came to taking him in the first round.
Greg Hardy won’t return for a second season with the Dallas Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys clearly didn’t have a big problem with those issues because they snagged the Notre Dame product with the 34th pick in the draft.
“Analysts believe Gathers, who stands 6’8” and weighs 275 pounds, will be groomed to one day take the place of standout tight end Jason Witten. He began running three weeks ago. Dr. Dan Cooper is the specialist who performed the fix of Smith’s knee … and Dr. Cooper is also a Cowboys team doctor.
Frazier started all 13 games last season for the Chippewas.

Asked whether he’ll be here for rookie camp next weekend, Jaylon Smith said he’ll be here tomorrow if the Cowboys want him. The Cowboys and Saints got better with these selections, and they will enjoy watching these guys make plays in those environments just as much as Buckeye fans did.
