Jays manager John Gibbons faces Twitter backlash over ‘dresses’ comment

Let the controversy begin after Tuesday night’s Blue Jays-Rays game ended on Jose Bautista being called out for interference at second base for making contact with Rays infield Logan Forsythe. The errant throw at first allowed two runs to score, giving Toronto a 4-3 lead.

Rays manager Kevin Cash disputed the call, and after reviewing the play, the umpires ruled that Bautista had interfered. “I want to concentrate on this season and concentrate on helping my team win games”, Encarnacion told the Toronto Star.

Apparently, touching the second baseman during the slide is a violation of the new rule.

Gibbons stated it a little stronger.

“That’s what you’d expect, but until you’re out there and you see games live, you’re not exactly sure how it’ll play”, Shapiro said.

I mean it’s not like John Gibbons made comments about Megyn Kelly, accused Michelle Fields about lying about being assaulted or retweeted an unflattering picture of Heidi Cruz. “It’s a shame”, he said. “But it amazes me in the world nowadays, simple things you try to calm a situation, add a little humour to something and it gets thrown out of whack”. “But that’s baseball. That’s been baseball forever”. The Blue Jays won’t face former teammate and new Boston ace David Price, who went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 11 regular-season starts for them after coming over from Detroit in July.

Girardi said the Yankees chose not to follow up on a protest because baseball’s rule book states the play falls under an umpire’s judgment. I felt like my feet were within range. “I’m ready to go out there and do my part in helping the team get a victory”.

“I feel like I respect the rule, that it was an absolutely clean slide”, Bautista said. That cost us an opportunity to win a Major League game.

Craig Calcaterra of NBCSports.com reported on the play Donaldson was injured on, which occurred when he hit a ground ball.

But after the game, everyone was talking about Bautista’s slide.

“He tweeted out the image with the message: “#Gibbons, “I guess we’ll come out wearing dresses tomorrow”. “Maybe that’s what everybody’s looking for”. Souza had four hits, including two home runs and a double, to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-3.

The slick-fielding second baseman stood at home plate on Thursday afternoon and, using a bowling motion, slowly rolled baseball after baseball toward third base along the new dirt base path that has been installed. Souza put together a solid.277/.385/.385 slash line in his final 21 games back from the hand injury, but it boosted his season-long batting average to just. “On a baseball field, both teams play on the same surface, so it’s not like it’s going to be an advantage or disadvantage for one or the other”.

Pillar, who was a AL Gold Glove finalist a year ago, said diving on turf does punish the body more than grass.

The pair exchanged words after former Seattle reliever Tom Wilhelmsen hit Chris Iannetta with a pitch.
