Jazz G Alec Burks to have surgery on broken leg
Utah Jazz guard Alec Burks chose to have surgery on his fractured left fibula, a reversal from the earlier plan to let the injury heal without surgery.

The procedure should allow Burks to place weight on his leg after two weeks and begin rehabbing sooner than if he didn’t have surgery.
There remains hope that Burks could make his way back to the lineup after the NBA All-Star break in mid-February, league sources said.
The Jazz announced Tuesday morning he will have surgery on Tuesday at the University of Utah Health Care in Salt Lake City.
Burks also was diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms by the Jazz medical staff at the time of the injury last week. Starting point guard Dante Exum is out for the season with a torn ACL.
In 28 games played this season including three starts, Burks is averaging a career-best in scoring with 14.3 points a game, also tallying 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.1 minutes played per outing.

Burks was injured late in the first half of the Jazz’s 109-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday as he drove to the basket.
