Jeb Bush in Twitter battle over Planned Parenthood

“We don’t want a government organization involved in what they are engaged in”.

Bush said, Planned Parenthood is “not actually doing women’s health issues.”

Previous videos featured secretly-taped conversations with top Planned Parenthood doctors, who told of how their affiliates supply body parts of aborted babies to fetal tissue procurement companies. According to Planned Parenthood figures, abortions represent 3 percent of the organization’s total services, and roughly 12 percent of its clients received an abortion. So the issue is not whether abortions can be stopped but rather whether those abortions that must be done are done lawfully and safely and save women’s lives.

It’s hard to reconcile Bush’s statement with the fact that – setting abortion procedures aside – Planned Parenthood offered more than 10 million services in 2013.

Politico helped legitimize the Center for Medical Progress’ (CMP) David Daleiden in a recent interview with the founder behind the anti-choice organization that released a string of deceptively edited videos attempting to smear Planned Parenthood, failing to note how Daleiden’s videos have been roundly exposed as highly edited and discredited and how CMP has ties to violent extremism.

A more detailed breakdown is available in the annual report.

Clinton’s campaign quickly jumped to fact-check Bush’s Colorado comments, too.

OK, let’s defund Planned Parenthood, jettisoning contact between 2.8 million mostly poor and young women and their children and professional caregivers in 700 clinics who through preventive care, screenings and treatment are able to bring a semblance of the kind of care middle- and executive-class women routinely expect from their private physicians. Bush is opposed to abortion, but it doesn’t make sense to say that Planned Parenthood isn’t addressing women’s health issues.

“I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars in funding for women’s health programs”, Bush said earlier in the month. That figure includes federal and state government money, however. In a dialogue about procuring liver tissue, Dyer said that StemExpress receives “intact cases” from abortion clinics.

“He lists statistics and figures and how relief money came from all over the U.S. and the world”. Its goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.
