Jeb Bush is opening night guest for Colbert’s ‘Late Show’

Stephen Colbert, the longtime political satirist who is shifting gears to take over CBS’ “Late Show” in September, announced Tuesday that his first Republican presidential candidate guest will be Jeb Bush. According to accounts of the panel from Variety and Deadline, he is just excited as we are. “Not having to run everything I say through the character’s bible in my head is really lovely”.

“I want to do jokes on Donald Trump so badly”, Colbert said.

Unfortunately, they won’t all be performing together-Lamar will be Colbert’s first musical guest as the Late Show’s new host. That’s much closer to how I learned my craft.

When Stephen Colbert was named as David Letterman’s replacement, he became a beacon of hope for viewers who want more than to watch guests play beer pong or square off in another lip sync battle.

A reporter asked Colbert directly if the idea of Trump as president scares him at all.

“CBS has solicited nothing from me other than I fill an hour consistently Monday through Friday”.

“I’m a comedian, but my favorite thing on the (‘Report’) became doing the interviews”, he added – not the scripted material. And in more good news, they said they had just met with the network and were casting another season to follow the one airing in the fall.

Meanwhile, Colbert revealed one element that will be getting a substantial overhaul is the physical space. Before Letterman’s Late Show wrapped, Colbert visited with Dave at the Ed Sullivan Theater, spending about 90 minutes discussing various aspects of hosting and comedy. “We’re building the “Late Show” set within the context of a Broadway theater”. We’re very tight. I’m in Lake Cuomo all the time.

Stephen Colbert is asking for divine intervention to ensure that Donald Trump remains in the US presidential race until the new Late Show launches.
