Jeb Bush jokes: ‘I did a disservice to the French’

Confrontation and chaos characterized last Wednesday’s Republican debate for candidates and moderators alike, as the ten highest-polling contenders competed for the best chance to share their positions on economic issues.

Will Weatherford, like Rubio a former speaker of the Florida statehouse, endorsed Bush’s approach.

“But rather than retreat, Bush is vowing to fight back, appearing nearly energized by the task of rebooting his campaign”.

That’s an issue he worked on as governor.

The Bush campaign dismissed these rebuttals. It’s a theme calculated to differentiate him from others in the race-including Rubio, a first-term senator.

But Rubio’s forceful response during an exchange with Bush at last week’s debate appeared to work in his favor. Notably, former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Florida) directly confronted Rubio, his former ally in the Tallahassee statehouse, at last week’s CNBC debate. The Miami Herald reports regarding Rubio’s financial records, “A top strategist, Todd Harris, said Tuesday they would be released soon, possibly within the month, but declined to answer questions about what they might contain”. “I liked what I heard”. Here’s what I think: “I think I’m the best qualified to be president”.

“My Jeb impression? Nah, I don’t want to do that”.

The real-money, real-consequences aspect here of a wager vs. a non-vested opinion of who someone is likely to vote for is the difference. Preparing for potential failures of climate systems in the house is one thing, but ongoing tuition may strike a few as a cost that falls under “living expenses” for those who choose private education.

For his part, Rubio generally shrugs off the attacks. He further defended his having launched the barb in the first place: “I just think people need to show up and work”. “Do what we elected you to do”.

Paul Singer, a leading Republican fundraiser and donor and billionaire New York investor, is endorsing Marco Rubio in his bid for the presidency. The pressure is particularly mounting for mid-tier candidates like Bush, who have struggled to break out of the pack and catch up to the party’s front-runners.

“You can’t just tell Congress: “You’re Fired” and go to a commercial break”, Bush said, in a hit at Trump. “You have to take him out of the picture to start reassembling the aura that you’re the giant killer, that you are shock and awe, that you are the big dog”.

There are many Republicans in Florida and elsewhere who like Bush, but who aren’t sure his style of campaigning can break through the noise this year.

Bush’s message to the audience Tuesday marked a shift in tone for his campaign. But, he added, Bush “will sell very well in early 2016”. “I don’t like showing a person sleeping at a podium”.

Even a 5-year-old child knows it’s futile to say something like, “Susie kicked me more times than I kicked her”. I was told that he would never run because Bush was his mentor.
