Jeb Bush makes cameo at the Emmys

As host of the 68th annual Emmy Awards Sunday night, Jimmy Kimmel not only brought the show in under the three-hour mark, but he also got plenty of laughs doing it.

Host Jimmy Kimmel was nimble and brutal, and nothing was taboo.

“Please tell me you’re seeing this too”, he joked in character.

After winning best comedy actress for a fifth consecutive time for HBO’s “Veep”, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays flawed USA president Selina Meyer on the show, said “I want to personally apologize for the current political climate”.

The Oscar-wining actor walked on stage casually eating an apple after John Oliver accepted the award asking Kimmel if he had won.

After throwing a few more barbs at the assembled audience of nominees and their guests, Kimmel set his sights on Hollywood.

“He calls women pigs if they don’t look like beauty pageant contestants, he blames Muslims and Mexicans for our problems, he makes fun of disabled people”, she said angrily.

This was clearly a win for her fans, who for the past four seasons have been really campaigning for her and finally saw their efforts rewarded. Hitching a ride to the show, Kimmel bounced among rides including the white Bronco from “The People v. O.J. Simpson” and James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” vehicle before winding up in the passenger seat beside a “between jobs” Jeb Bush, playing a chauffeur. We are not mailing this to her! “You lost and now you gotta stand out here for the rest of the night when you probably want to just go home, curl up and cry”.

Master of None” star Aziz Ansari, who penned an essay in June for the New York Times entitled “Why Trump Makes Me Scared for My Family”, quipped on stage, “I’ve decided I’m going with Trump”.

“I think that “Veep” has torn down the wall between comedy and politics”, said a straight-faced Louis-Dreyfus. “Thank you.” The former “Seinfeld” star later saw her show win its second consecutive comedy series trophy. Bush sincerely asks Kimmel, “Are you nominated?” for an Emmy, to which Kimmel confirms he is, only to have Bush respond, “Wow, what’s that like?”
