Jeb Bush praises MI governor for post-Flint leadership
The commitee’s chairman, U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, put out a statement regarding Hedman’s resignation, however, underscoring his interest in the Flint water crisis and the EPA’s response to reports of high lead levels there.

Bush said he had criticized Snyder on the issue, but now applauded the governor for his actions. More than half the funds would be used to replace lead pipes on private property, an essential step to mitigating the lead contamination and restoring confidence in Flint’s water system.
The city’s water source had been changed from Detroit’s water system to the Flint River in a cost-cutting move, and the water was not properly treated to keep lead from leaching into the supply.
He writes the state intends to “fully outline” its “legal and factual concerns with the order”. Late in 2015, testing revealed that the proportion of children with above-average levels of lead in their blood had nearly doubled since the city’s decision to switch to the Flint River.
An advisory panel to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is recommending steps the state should take to get reliable drinking water back to Flint residents.
Sunday, celebrities were vocal about the Flint water crisis and Governor Snyder.
On Thursday, the president said his administration is giving $80 million in aid to MI, most of which will likely be directed to help fix Flint’s water infrastructure and ensure the drinking water is safe.
“They would never do this to Bloomfield”.
So much damage has been done it’s hard to determine which piece of this man-made disaster is most egregious. She had the water at her house analyzed after city authorities told her the problem was probably with her plumbing system. Neither Weaver nor her spokeswoman responded to phone and email messages seeking comment.
But there were problems right off the bat: Residents said the water was brown or reddish; it stank; it tasted weird. He said state and local leaders were misled by career civil servants regarded as scientific experts on the subject. Rep. Dan Kildee, a Democrat who represents Flint, called race “the single greatest determinant of what happened in Flint”. Fewer than 8,000 GM jobs remain, and the city’s population has dropped to just below 100,000, with a corresponding rise in property abandonment and poverty.
“We found hazardous waste levels of lead in her water, and that data and our other analysis were in a report written by an EPA employee who raised the alarm about the problem”, he added. He said Flint is a classic case of minority and low-income residents confronting an environmental issue and that “it may be one of the biggest environmental justice disasters we’ve seen in a long time”.
As multiple investigations continue to unfold, residents of Flint are going about their daily lives which now includes stopping by water pick-up centers.
Today, presidential candidates are cross-crossing Iowa and some of them are arguing that their lack of past public service is actually an asset, and that their years in the private sector make them supremely qualified to help shape public policy in America.

He also said that Water.Org’s mission is “to end that suffering for those children, and those parents” for people around the world.
