Jeb Bush’s Gun Tweet Backfires
The former Florida governor’s sleepy expression (“low energy” as Donald Trump would say) set against his desire to look cool just keeps leading to ridicule.

Some were serious, like a tweet from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, which, in response to the “America.” tweet, shared a supercut of newscasters announcing gun deaths throughout the country.
Wednesday’s crowd, however, seemed more interested in advising Bush on how to run his campaign.
Bush commonly touts his gun record as governor of Florida, and it is a calling card in SC, which holds its Republican primary on Saturday. And several shared images of actress America Ferrera. “But it’s notable they spent far more money attacking Marco than they have the front-runner Donald Trump”, said Rubio spokesman Alex Conant. The reactions online, however, have been focusing on making fun of Jeb Bush on a personal level, rather than criticizing his politics. The photo of the inscribed gun: a single, easily photoshopped image.
The meme instantly took off, with others posting different photos under the heading “America”, including the wrestler Hulk Hogan playing a guitar, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers pretending to smoke marijuana and former President Ronald Reagan riding a dinosaur. He sat down with NEWS 3 for a one-on-one interview, discussing the “First in the South” election and what it could mean for his campaign. “A lot of people will sign them up in a NY minute”.
Then left-leaning media, exemplified by Igor Volsky at Think Progress went on the digital offensive, tweeting, “A man running for president of the United States just tweeted a picture of a handgun with his name on it”.
Gun rights have become pivotal to the Republican campaign for presidency, with Bush’s opponents Trump, Rubio and Cruz all boasting about their gun ownership. But Haley instead endorsed Rubio, Bush’s former protégé.
Quoting one donor of Bush, the USA daily Politico reported Friday that Bush’s sequence in SC could decide the fate of his troubled candidacy.
