Jeb Bush Suspends Presidential Campaign

Clinton’s win eased the rising anxieties of her backers, who feared a growing challenge from Bernie Sanders. He struggled, however, to convert that early advantage into broad support as the campaign wore on, and faced mounting pressure to drop out so the establishment wing of the party could rally behind one anti-Trump candidate.

And since the SC primary’s inception in 1980, every Republican victor has gone on to win the nomination – with one exception.

Donald Trump won the South Carolina GOP primary by double digits, solidifying his status as frontrunner in the race to be the Republican nominee for president. Bush and other candidates lagged far behind.

“I’ve had an incredible life, and for me, public service has been the highlight of that life”, he said. That gave Vermont Sen. Those who wanted a candidate who “tells it like it is” were important to Trump – they made up a small proportion of the electorate, but he was supported by over three-quarters of them.

The former secretary of state captured the backing of voters who said electability and experience were important in their vote. “…But the people of Iowa, New Hampshire and SC have spoken”.

“Some may have doubted us, but we never doubted each other”, Clinton said in a victory speech. “This one is for you”.

“The panic ought to be there right now”, he said.

Panic has likely set in on the so-called GOP “establishment”, Krauthammer added, and Rubio’s “hiccup” in New Hampshire did nothing to help.

Hillary Clinton edged out Sen. Clinton’s win means she will pick up at least 18 of Nevada’s 35 delegates.

Trump leads the overall race for delegates with 55. Bush has deep family ties in the state and campaigned alongside his mother, the former first lady, and his brother, former President George W. Bush. “I pray for him and his family tonight”.

Bush, the former Florida governor, entered the 2016 presidential race as an early favorite, but fell in the polls steadily, despite having had a couple strong debate performances in recent weeks. There’s still good reason to wonder if-given his lackluster favorability numbers-Trump’s ceiling may be below the 50-percent threshold he’d need to win a two-man contest.

Trump stirred fresh controversy on Friday when he told a crowd about a USA general who was said to have dipped bullets in pigs’ blood to kill Muslim prisoners a century ago.

But Cruz hit back by saying Rubio was just like Trump and had a thin skin when it was his turn to absorb an attack.

Kasich’s chief strategist John Weaver says in a statement the race will now be a four-man contest between Kasich, Rubio, Cruz and Trump.

Rubio who secured the endorsement of South Carolina’s Indian-American Governor Nikki Haley and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, both rising stars in the Republican party, is hoping to gain from the exit of his former mentor turned rival Jeb Bush. “It is certainly bigger than any candidate”.
