Jeb Bush: U.S. assistance for refugees should focus on Christians

Foreign policy is the new focus on the 2016 campaign trail in the wake of the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, marking a fresh chapter in the race for the White House that has so far focused on issues such as immigration, the economy and bringing change to Washington.

Their comments follow the terror attacks in Paris on Friday night that killed more than 130 people and wounded hundreds more. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the violence. “And I think what the president has consistently said – which I agree with – is that we will support those who take the fight to ISIS”, she said at the debate. “We don’t have to just react, we can think”.

“I would ask our allies to invoke Article 5”, Rubio said.

“We won’t be able to take more refugees”, he said. “But one of them is an ISIS fighter – if that’s the case, you have a problem”. But he appeared to contradict his tough talk by suggesting the US should limit its commitment on the ground.

Jeb Bush said this isn’t about religion, it’s about a “political ideology that’s co-opted a religion” and that’s what the Democrats need to face. Just can’t do it. So we’re supposed to compromise our security and go further into debt to help people in other countries, many of whom dislike us intensely, and that’s putting it nicely.

Bush’s plan for engagement sounded more robust. It requires arming directly the Kurdish forces in Iraq. Re-engage with the Sunni tribal leaders. That is why we have troops in Iraq that are helping to train and build back up the Iraqi military.

He also called for establishing a safe zone in Syria, an option that the Obama administration has rejected. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: “I am the Lord your God”. He has the capability of doing this. “We have the resources to do this”.

Bush accused Obama of pussyfooting around while the survival of Western civilization was at stake.

Sen. Ted Cruz said ISIS “is an evil that does not discriminate between French, German or American, Christian, Muslim or Jew, soldier, football player, or concert goer”.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum agreed, saying that “under no circumstances” should the United States take Syrian refugees.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says the fight against ISIS must be led by the United States but can not be fought by Americans alone.

And while calling for a no-fly zone, Bush also criticized the idea of the Obama administration talking to Russian Federation (who are, of course, now flying inside Syria). “This is a war and we should act accordingly”.

What Bush is trying to tell conservatives is that it’s okay to hate on Islam, that Islam is indeed the enemy, and they’re just not compatible – whether extremists or refugees – with the base’s devotion to the invented Christian basis of our country.

“The great majority of refugees need to be safely kept in Syria, which means the safe zones need to be serious”, he said.

“We should focus our efforts as it related to the refugees with the Christians that are being slaughtered”, Bush said.

Bush said in his view, the USA should limit refugees by focusing on admitting Syrian Christian refugees.
