Jeff Hornacek fired by Suns
Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek was sacked Monday morning.

The move comes after the Suns suffered their 19th loss in the last 21 games, a 91-78 decision against the Dallas Mavericks. At 14-35, their record is tied for fourth worst in the National Basketball Association. The loss was also the team’s 14th consecutive loss on the road.
A person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press three assistant coaches would be interviewed Monday for the interim job. The Suns are on pace for the worst season since the inaugural season of the franchise, when the team was 16-66 (.195).
The sputtering Suns are in 13th place out of 15 in the West.
Jeff Hornacek’s top two veteran assistants, Mike Longabardi and Jerry Sichting, were fired in January, with Hornacek himself on the hot seat as well. But last season, the team slipped to 39-43.

Hornacek received an ultimatum on December 28 when two assistant coaches were fired. When Aldridge chose San Antonio, it left Phoenix with a very upset Markieff Morris, who had already seen the team deal his twin brother, Marcus, followed by a courtship of a player in Aldridge who would have taken Markieff’s position.
