Jeffery will play versus Rams

Jeffery will be good to go despite nursing a groin injury.

A calf injury kept Jeffery out of preseason and a hamstring injury knocked him out from Weeks 2 to 5.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, above, is stopped near… “He’ll be OK. If he can’t go, we’ve had life without him and we’ll figure it out with the guys we’ve got”.

“So I feel like those two guys, they’ve played a lot of ball, made a lot of plays, so I feel confident when they bring a suggestion to the table”.

The Rams added veteran receiver Wes Welker on Monday to help make up for losing Stedman Bailey to a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, but if Welker is able to play Sunday, it only will be on a limited basis. But Jeffery is also in the middle of an injury-riddled season and has suffered yet another health setback, missing practice Thursday at Halas Hall with what coach John Fox called a tweaked groin. Jeffery tied a team record with his third consecutive 100-yard receiving game on Monday night when he caught 10 passes for 151 yards in Chicago’s 22-19 win over San Diego. I’m like “No kidding”. Jeffery skipped six games his rookie year in 2012 with a broken hand and minor knee injury that required an arthroscopic procedure.

“We’ll just see what happens”, offensive coordinator Adam Gase said.

Cutler has thrown for 1,787 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions this season, and while his numbers are not at the same level as a few of the NFL’s best passers, he has looked like a different quarterback this season.

Cutler isn’t expected to have running back Matt Forte, however. Melvin Ingram used speed around the edge to beat Leno last week for a strip-sack of Cutler. “Whenever you lose a bunch of games in a row, it gets hard. It’s nice when he’s available to go because obviously he’s an impact player for us”. “You look at the past week and right now we’re looking at the Rams, so it’s a week-to-week thing”.

Jay Cutler may be without Alshon Jeffery for Sunday's game against Rams
