Let the guessing games cease: We know who’s playing uber-villain Negan in AMC’s The Walking Dead!

Ethan Miller/Getty ImagesSay hello to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, your next villain on “The Walking Dead”. The bat plays a key role in the comics since… He also has the charismatic, bad-ass persona down cold, something he’s actually been displaying on The Good Wife this season. Fans of the small screen might recognize him from his television roles on shows such as Extant as well as Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, Supernatural, and Weeds. As someone who is very familiar with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s large TV resume that description fits his acting style perfectly. He will join the cast of The Walking Dead as a guest star this season before being promoted to series regular in season seven.
We’ve already told you six reasons why we believe Glenn is alive and will fight through that swarm of flesh craving zombies, but now we have a new question: Will Glenn be able to survive Negan, too? It also spawned a spin-off set in the same world, Fear the Walking Dead. In the comics, the group laid their reign of terror down on the Alexandria Safe Zone, which is where Rick Grimes and his people now reside in the TV show. Known for his cruel nature and barbed wire-coiled baseball bat Lucille, Negan in the comics has been taking half the community’s supplies in exchange for his not-so-magnanimous “protection” from undead walkers.
You can see a picture of Morgan, and Negan below. THR reports he was considered, as was Matt Dillon and Timothy Olyphant.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
