JeM terrorist arrested from Baramulla

Police and army arrested a terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit from Baramulla, who carried out an attack three months ago along with his three associates at an army camp near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

“I fled to a nearby forest and was hiding for three days”. He was part of the terror team that had attacked an army camp in Tanghdar in Kupwara district on November 25.

“The militant has told his interrogators that he was lured by his school friend, who is also a JeM associate”.

Mohammad Sadiq, 19, a resident of Sialkote in Pakistan, smiled to the dozens of cameras gathered inside the DIG’s office in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district; he appeared calm when he was paraded before the media on Thursday.

Indian army launched a manhunt in Baramulla locale taking after inputs about entry of a Pakistani terrorist group into the area central station town yesterday, a police official said. “After sustained operations a Pakistani Fidayeen was overpowered near Kanispora and apprehended”, the newspaper quoted a police spokesman as saying.

The officials also said that during his interrogation Sadiq also revealed that the militants had sneaked into Kupwara from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir the previous night using Global Positioning System devices and reached the site of the attack after about seven hours walk. Coming from a well off farmer family in Sialkot, Gujjar has five brothers and two sisters. “He received three month’s training in JeM camp where he was motivated for Jihad besides arms training”.

Das said Gujar’s arrest is a major success for the government agencies as he had been planning to set up a base to carry out militant activities.

Security forces recovered and AK 47 and 150 rounds of ammunition.

The arrested persons of module were identified as Sohail Arif Ganie son of Mohammad Arif Ganie resident of Sherwani colony Khwaja Bagh, Rashid Rasool Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat resident of Darwah Wagoora at present resides at Dar Mohallah Drangbal, Javaid Ahmad Dhobi son of Mohammad Sultan Dhobi resident of Syed Karim Mohallah Baramulla, Farhan Fayaz Liloo son of Fayaz Ahmad Liloo resident of Jamia Mohallah Baramulla and Ehsan Fayaz Liloo son of Fayaz Ahmad resident of Jamia Mohallah Baramulla.
