“The militant has told his interrogators that he was lured by his school friend, who is also a JeM associate”.
Mohammad Sadiq, 19, a resident of Sialkote in Pakistan, smiled to the dozens of cameras gathered inside the DIG’s office in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district; he appeared calm when he was paraded before the media on Thursday.
Indian army launched a manhunt in Baramulla locale taking after inputs about entry of a Pakistani terrorist group into the area central station town yesterday, a police official said. “After sustained operations a Pakistani Fidayeen was overpowered near Kanispora and apprehended”, the newspaper quoted a police spokesman as saying.
The officials also said that during his interrogation Sadiq also revealed that the militants had sneaked into Kupwara from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir the previous night using Global Positioning System devices and reached the site of the attack after about seven hours walk. Coming from a well off farmer family in Sialkot, Gujjar has five brothers and two sisters. “He received three month’s training in JeM camp where he was motivated for Jihad besides arms training”.
Das said Gujar’s arrest is a major success for the government agencies as he had been planning to set up a base to carry out militant activities.
