Fans are very disappointed to hear the news.

As it stands, The Mirror reckons Coleman has already filmed her final scenes, and her name was missing from this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special announcement (although the full cast for that hasn’t been confirmed yet).
Jenna Coleman is to leave BBC series Doctor Who to star in a lead role for an ITV production, according to a report in British newspaper The Mirror. You’re in Doctor Who knowing it will never last.
‘Peter and I went to promote it in South Korea and when we landed at the airport I was really shocked by how many people there were waiting for us, dressed up, singing and waving banners, ‘ Jenna gushed.
Moffat said of Missy’s return: “Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit a year ago, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener”.
Jenna Coleman made her Doctor Who debut in 2012 episode Asylum of the Daleks, where she popped up as the mysterious Oswin Oswald, the sole survivor of a crashed starship who is later revealed to be a Dalek.
Coleman began her Doctor Who career as a girl-turned-Dalek with Matt Smith’s Doctor, eventually turning up as Clara, the girl who eventually traveled throughout the Doctor’s time stream. She has saved him more times than we can count and she was the exclusive companion in The Day of the Doctor 50th anniversary special.
Episode 1 is set to air on Saturday night, September 19th at 8pm central time on BBC America.
Peter Capaldi, however, seems happy for Jenna Coleman, and said he was “thrilled” that she was signed up for another show.

The Doctor shows off his dry sense of humour by commenting on the “upset” caused when lizard woman Madame Vastra kissed her human wife, Jenny Flint, on-screen in the last series.
