“Red Sparrow” is the story of Dominika, who was trained as a seductress or “sparrow” in service.
The book is about current day Russia and state intelligence officer Dominika Egorova trying to survive in the tough, post-Soviet world of Russian spies. “The two young intelligence officers collide in a charged atmosphere of trade craft, deception, and inevitably, a sexual attraction that threatens their careers and the security of America’s valuable mole in Moscow”.
Before the announcement of Francis’s name as the helmer for this project, David Fincher and Darren Aronofsky were in the news for directing the movie as it has been in progress for some time.
Justin Haythe (Snitch, The Lone Ranger) has come aboard to rewrite the adapted script, which was originally written by Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle, The International). based on the novel by Jason Matthews.
The Best Actress Academy Award victor, who is known for her charity works, is now waiting for the release of her upcoming fourth and last movie in the Hunger Games franchise titled, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2″. Steve Zaillian (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and Garrett Basch (Life Itself) are set to produce via Chernin Entertainment. In fact, this isn’t even her first potential reunion with Lawrence – there were reports in January they could re-team for the James Cameron-produced The Dive.
Fans will have to stay tuned to see if Lawrence officially closes a deal to star in Red Sparrow. She has signed up for “Passengers (2016)” which will feature Chris Pratt.
