Jennifer Lawrence is the year’s highest-paid actress once again
Halle Berry, arguably the most recognizable Black actress in Hollywood, has been absent from the list despite starring in the X-Men franchise since 2000.

Oscar-winning Jennifer Lawrence was named the world’s highest-paid actress for the second year running on Tuesday, with estimated pre-tax earnings of $46 million. But Lawrence’s pretax income pales in comparison to what her male counterparts earn.
Everyone knew Jennifer Lawrence was Hollywood’s golden girl – but she’s got the paycheck to prove it. She earned this impressive income because of her advance fee for her role in the forthcoming space adventure “Passengers” and the final Hunger Games installment “Mockingjay – Part 2”, which gross $653.4 million worldwide.
Jennifer Lawrence photographed by Patrick Demarchelier. However it is less than a year ago, when she raked in $52 million. Last year Robert Downey Jr. topped the list with an estimated $US80 million.
Actresses who’ve recently worked in fantasy and science fiction are among the highest paid in the industry, Forbes reports. Dwayne Johnson is at the top with $64.5 million.
It’s not a unique situation by any means.
Melissa McCarthy earned $33 million from Tammy, The Boss and a large payment from the recent Ghostbusters reboot. Her talent and dedication to her craft has helped her reach the top. Scarlett Johansson – $25 million 4.
The Top 5 was filled out by Jennifer Aniston ($21m) and Chinese star Fan Bingbing, the actor, producer and singer who topped Forbes’s China Celebrity 100 list in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Charlize Theron, US$16.5 million 7.

This year evidently saw Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie, Kristen Stewart, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz all drop off; additionally, names like Kristen Wiig, Renée Zellweger and Cate Blanchett nearly missed the $10 million mark. To make thins worse, there are fewer roles in top box movies for women, where actress could negotiate eight-figure upfront fees and a portion of the profits. Also striking is the statistic that women are three times more likely to be seen nude in their films than their male co-stars.
