Jodie Kidd has added fuel to speculation that she could be joining Top Gear – by suggesting the new-look show “definitely” needs a female presenter.

The BBC1 show is undergoing a revamp following the controversial departure of Jeremy Clarkson and his sidekicks, Richard Hammond and James May.

Evans, the Radio 2 DJ, is replacing Jeremy Clarkson as the lead presenter.

Jenson previously appeared on BBC Two show Top Gear in 2006 and 2010 to take part in the Star in the Reasonably Price vehicle segment where – despite winning the 2009 world championship – he admitted he was “cold” and “nervous”. It seems Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has expressed his interest in co-hosting the show and it appears he is pole position to get the job, with a source close to BBC cited by Daily Mail saying an official announcement is imminent.

Button, though, is the latest to join the list of candidates with the Daily Mail’s Sebastian Shakespeare reporting: “I hear the 35-year-old driver is in talks with the BBC”.

As Button has said, ‘In any sport, the trick is to retire at the right time.’.

“I would be pretty happy if I retired now with my career in terms of achievements”, he said.

However, Button is not the only name being linked to a spot on the presenting team.
