Top Gear is undergoing a period of change after the BBC released former host Jeremy Clarkson from his contract in March following an physical altercation with one of the show’s producers. It seems Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has expressed his interest in co-hosting the show and it appears he is pole position to get the job, with a source close to BBC cited by Daily Mail saying an official announcement is imminent.

The McLaren ace is good friends with new presenter and Radio Two Breakfast Show host Chris Evans, who was announced this summer as Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement.

Jenson Button has been tipped to join Chris Evans on Top Gear.

Button’s team and the BBC have yet to comment on the speculation; with it being pointed out neither party has denied the rumour.

As Button has said, ‘In any sport, the trick is to retire at the right time.’.

“I would be pretty happy if I retired now with my career in terms of achievements”.

Jodie Kidd and Suzi Perry are both said to be in the running to become the first female presenter on the show while Guy Martin, Dermot O’Leary and Philip Glenister are also favourites to join Chris on the revamped show.
