Jeremy Clarkson says ‘much already sorted’ for new Amazon Prime motoring show

Filming is due to start on Jeremy Clarkson’s new Amazon motoring show within “a couple of weeks” the star confirmed today.

The former Top Gear presenter, who was let go by the BBC following a fracas with a producer, took to Twitter to inform fans that James is “busy with other stuff” so hasn’t started working on the trio’s new car show for Amazon Prime.

Hammond recently told ITV’s This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “The point is, an fantastic opportunity has come along for us to evolve and reinvent what we do, and we’re all just charged”. The Top Gear trademark was worth an estimated £150 million a year, thanks to a combination of live shows, DVD sales, and branded merchandise-and there’s no doubt the new show will have similar margins of merchandise success.

Though those associated with the three gear heads’ new show have stayed mum on the topic of the show’s name, it looks like we might have finally figured it out. We haven’t decided on the content … any of that stuff.

When asked about that reported name, an Amazon spokesman said: “Amazon does not comment on speculation”.

“I’m not just saying that to put you off. I’d love to be able to say “Yes, it’s called C**ks in Cars”, but it isn’t”.

“May is busy with other stuff but Hammond, Wilman and I are extremely busy putting our new show together”, he said. He added: “Sorry about the lengthy absence from Twitter”. Fun though.

It’s heavily speculated that the show will be titled Gear Knobs after Buzzfeed uncovered a trademark application for the tongue in the cheek name by Clarkson’s lawyers, Olswang.

The Gear Knobs name is a perfect fit for the three hosts with its cheekiness-after all, the word “knob” (or the alternative spelling “nob”) is British slang for a man’s nether regions.
