The city MP, who joined the mass resignation by shadow ministers in Corbyn’s team when he stepped down as parliamentary private secretary to the shadow justice team, was widely quoted as having spoken out in front of more than 200 Labour colleagues.

Labour leadership challenger Owen Smith in his own Q&A with PinkNews readers questioned why party leader Jeremy Corbyn accepted up to £20,000 for media appearances on Iran’s state-owned Press TV.

The two MPs, who are friends, have nominated Mr Smith according to the party website although Corbyn is favourite to be re-elected as leader when the result is announced at the party conference in Liverpool on September 24.

He acknowledged the move would take some control away from the victor of the party’s leadership contest, to be announced on September 24.

The support of UB40, who have sold 70 million records worldwide, coincides with a commitment from Mr Corbyn to boost arts funding to the average spend in European countries.

35 per cent said that some Labour MP had been planted by Conservative strategists to undermine the left wing of the party.

“I think we all suddenly realised that we are so used to politicians lying”, he said.

Jeremy Corbyn hit out when shadow cabinet elections were scrapped in 2011.

“I want to see a new Regional Investment Bank for the South East that will focus on turning around the places that have been on the wrong side of the decisions made elsewhere”.
