Jeremy Corbyn slated by Theresa May during Prime Minister’s Questions

In May past year, Mr Clark wrote an article for a national newspaper arguing that a vote for Yes in the independence referendum did not equate to support for the SNP.

However, Mr Clark has insisted that his loyalty to the party is “unquestionable”.

Mr Smith said: “Jeremy is the disunity candidate in this contest”.

‘I say to the right honourable gentleman this: he may have a model of society where he doesn’t want to see private landlords, where he wants to see the government owning everything, the government deliberating on everything and the government doing everything for everybody.

Until June of this year Mr Clark had worked in a full-time role as a paid organiser for the Scottish Labour Party, covering the Scottish Parliament election, as well as the European Union referendum.

Mr Corbyn noted: “Well, that’s extremely interesting because only a year ago you voted against a Labour amendment to the Housing Bill which quite simply said all homes for rent in the private rented sector should be fit for human habitation”.

‘I did notice you had asked all your Twitter followers what questions you should ask me this week, so I thought I’d look to see what sort of responses he received, ‘ she said.

The Labour leader has no support from his MPs and his challenger has no support from the party, they were told.

By the time it starts Jeremy Corbyn will know whether he has retained his job as the result of the leadership contest will be announced the previous day.

Mr Corbyn has recently voiced fears that some of his supporters may have been “unfairly” excluded from voting in his leadership battle with Owen Smith. “Less than 0.5 per cent of the total electorate in this contest have been deemed ineligible to vote in this validation process”.

However, it is believed around 3,000 have since been barred from taking part. However, over the past few days, his attacks on the current Labour leader have become blunt and much more frequent.

“By failing to act against abuse, attacking party staff and the NEC (National Executive Committee) and encouraging talk of de-selection, Jeremy has shown that he is both unwilling and unable to act as a unifying figure”.

Bristol’s Labour Party has been contacted for comment.

“I think some of the people around Jeremy are absolutely encouraging it, of that there is no doubt”, he said.

A spokesperson for the Owen Smith campaign said: “This isn’t a poll – it is a blind assertion”.

LABOUR has been accused of “airbrushing” its leader out of the party as he does not appear in its brochure for next month’s conference.

Mr Corbyn’s aides suggested on Wednesday that the leader might rule out full membership of the European single market unless Britain can negotiate exemptions from key EU rules.
