Jermaine Gresham’s tour continues to the Green Bay Packers

The Packers only have two tight ends with any significant experience on their roster in Andrew Quarless and Richard Rogers.

Gresham has been a productive pass catcher during his career, with at least 50 catches in four of his five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, but his yards per catch average is trending down and bottomed-out last year (7.4 yards per catch).

Jermaine Gresham, a tight end who visited the New Orleans Saints last month and reportedly received a contract offer, is taking his free-agency roadshow to Green Bay. “He’s a matchup problem in the red zone thanks to his 6’5” and 260-pound frame. Gresham is a former first-round pick of the Bengals who adds depth to a tight end group which was previously light on experience.

Gresham will provide the Cardinals with a much-needed pass-catching skillset at the tight end position, after John Carlson retired at age 30 this offseason. There’s something to be said for a relatively young player loaded with talent getting a fresh start. He’s also only missed six of a possible 80 regular season games, meaning that despite his recent back surgery – revealed while he was on a free agent trip to visit the Oakland Raiders – Gresham has proven quite durable during his NFL career.
