Billboard reported that Heller apparently suffered a medical emergency while driving and crashed his auto in Ventura County at around noon Friday.

Heller passed away just after 10:20 p.m.at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center, authorities said.
In an interview Saturday morning with NBC station WDIV of Detroit, Ice Cube – who was scheduled to perform Saturday night at Chene Park – acknowledged that the band’s members had a deeply contentious relationship with Heller.

Heller would remain close with Easy-E, whom he mentored and served as a type of father figure, which famously tore at the rest of the N.W.A members.
