Billboard reported that Heller apparently suffered a medical emergency while driving and crashed his auto in Ventura County at around noon Friday.

Heller passed away just after 10:20 p.m.at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center, authorities said.

In an interview Saturday morning with NBC station WDIV of Detroit, Ice Cube – who was scheduled to perform Saturday night at Chene Park – acknowledged that the band’s members had a deeply contentious relationship with Heller.

“I consider the most important period of my life, from March 3rd, 1987 I think it was, to March 26th, 1995, the day I met Eazy-E and the day he died”, Heller told Rolling Stone past year.

But Heller became embroiled in a dispute with Eazy-E’s bandmates who accused him of sowing division in N.W.A.so he could maximise his own profit. “N.W.A were the first great rap audio documentarians of the problems in our inner cities”. Heller would remain close with Easy-E, whom he mentored and served as a type of father figure, which famously tore at the rest of the N.W.A members.

He was recently portrayed by Paul Giamatti in the Oscar-nominated 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, which chronicled N.W.A.’s rise to prominence. “This is going to take over rock ‘n” roll, ‘” Ballen recalled.

Heller was portrayed by Paul Giamatti in the film Straight Outta Compton a year ago and took Universal and the producers to court, claiming that his portrayal in the film was false.

“As for the things that bothered me, I’ve been in the business for six decades”. “It’s like, when I was lookin’ for a manager, I closed my f–in’ eyes and I said, “I want the best.’ Jerry happened to be the best”.

‘It was very hurtful. But actually, this was more hurtful.

“Look, I brought Elton John here”. The status of Heller’s lawsuit is somewhat unclear at this point in light of his passing. And I’m not scandalous. He added, “I call the movie revisionist history, like something invented by Joe Stalin, just saying whatever you want”.
