Jerusalem knife attacker shot dead: Israeli police
Two Palestinians were killed on Friday and more than 30 injured in violent tension between Israel and the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Xinhua reported.

Israeli police said they have shot dead a Palestinian who tried to stab them in Jerusalem, in the latest deadly incident in a three-month spate of violence.
A spokesperson for police in Jerusalem said on Saturday that the man was initially acting suspiciously in the Old City, prompting police to approach him.
Mahdia Hammad, a mother of four, was killed by Israeli forces under the pretext that she attempted to run over Israeli soldiers at the entrance of Silwad village northeast of Ramallah. After refusing the police’s call to drop the knife, an officer shot him once.
The Palestinian, 26, from east Jerusalem, pulled out a knife from his pocket and attempted to stab one of them.
“The alertness and operational readiness of the policemen, along with their swift and professional response, prevented harm to them and clearly prevented a terrorist attack against innocent civilians”, Jerusalem police chief Moshe Edri said.
The incidents came after three terror attacks on Thursday, in an ongoing wave of Palestinian attacks since September.
The Palestinians were “attempting to damage the security fence by throwing rocks and hurling burning tyres at it. Forces on the site responded to the immediate danger of infiltration (into Israel) asking them to halt and firing warning shots”, the spokeswoman said. Palestinians say the violence stems from frustration over almost five decades of Israeli military rule.

Palestinians have grown frustrated with Israel’s occupation, the complete lack of progress in peace efforts and their own fractured leadership.
