Speaking to PEOPLE as the couple were still choosing a name, Ben, 20 and Jessa, 23, revealed they favoured names of “heroes from the Christian faith”. Jessa was rushed to a local hospital without her son, and said the hardest part was leaving her baby behind.
Jessa and Ben welcomed their first child together November 5, a few days after their first wedding anniversary.
“I thought I’d sleep at night, but I hear [him] breathe or something, and I take out a flashlight and shine it on his face to make sure he’s okay”, she gushed.
As befitting a reality TV family, Jessa Duggar, who stars on her own reality TV show alongside sister Jill Duggar Dillard, has not stopped giving people enough fodder to talk about.
‘I said, ‘That’s it!
“When we first found out that we were expecting a baby, Ben and I were talking about a letter theme for our kids and Ben suggested, “Why don’t we go with the letter Q”?’ lol!”
She was rushed to hospital and needed a blood transfusion after ten hours of labor at home.
Jessa also shared a sweet new photo of Quincy on Facebook on Sunday.
Jessa successfully gave birth at home under the surveillance and support of Duggar matriarch Michelle, but the warm event suddenly gave way to something alarming when Jessa went into excessive bleeding.
‘Derick, Israel and I are so excited for you and Benji! “I felt those contractions with you”, Jill writes in the Dillard Family Blog. “May you raise this little guy in the love and admonition of our Lord”, Derick wrote on Instagram. You were a champ!
The family is known for their long-running, recently canceled docu-series 19 Kids and Counting.

However, Jill and Jessa will return to TV as they share their experiences with motherhood in a new special, called Counting On, which will air in December.
