TVLine first reported that Beane will recur in multiple episodes. Her official description according to The CW is that she’s “a brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and Zoom”. But she’ll also have a metahuman alter ego in Jesse Quick. In the comics, her real name was Jesse Chambers and she was the daughter of two Golden Age heroes: Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle.

But that’s not the only new face heading to Central City this season! The character is described as “a charming, but cocky scientist who was affected by the same Particle Accelerator explosion that created the Flash“. It appears that Team Flash expects him to be a good guy, considering that he’s asked to join the S.T.A.R. Labs team by Caitlin Snow, but the smart guess is that he doesn’t remain on the side of the angels for long. Entertainment Weekly also reports that Malese Jow will return to her role as Linda Park, notable as Barry’s (brief) fling on the series, and love interest of Wally West in the books. While they have had no problem introducing new characters into the “Arrow” / “The Flash” world, it’s hard to bring in too many brand-new villains other than to have people questioning why they aren’t just using ones that are already out there. Might that mean she and Keiynan Lonsdale’s upcoming Wally to be written in the stars? Harrison Wells in theory was a new character, but he did still have the connections to Eobard Thawne / the Reverse Flash.

We’ll see how long it takes him to turn from friend to foe in Season 2 of The Flash, which gets underway on Tuesday, October 6.
