So far, players said there hasn’t been a single bit of negative feedback from classmates-no anger, no complaints. We should all do everything we can to make sure those things don’t happen, and to hold those who do them accountable for their actions.
“The conversation around whether we’re “supporting the troops” hijacks the real issues being raised”, he says.
Kaepernick, San Francisco’s backup quarterback, was the first National Football League player who chose to kneel during the anthem to call attention to what he says is the oppression of blacks and other minorities.
“A lot of it’s more about the freedom and what people have done, and it’s more about the whole picture of the United States, and our freedom and what we stand for – and not just one small aspect”, said Donna Veenhuizen, a parent with the West Seattle Athletics Boosters.

“Ultimately you have the right to do what you think is best”, he said.
“Of his January 12, 2014, rendition, before Carolina’s 23-10 NFC divisional playoff loss, USA Today said: “(It) was everything a national anthem should be – soaring, inspiring, respectful and, just as importantly, short and sweet. Afterward, Brown said that he wanted to call attention to social injustices and economic disparities. In 2009, an Oakland police officer who was dismissed from the force after killing two unarmed men successfully appealed his firing, and was reinstated two years later with full back pay. Kaepernick should ignore instances like this in his own community just because he’s wealthy? “That’s really between that individual and their family”, Jones High School football coach Elijah Williams said.

Unfortunately for Colin Kaepernick, his message has gone from prompting responses from every loudmouth, to now starting to fall on deaf ears. All of the aforementioned teams have had players participate in forms of protest during the anthem. “I am not happy that football is being used as the platform for this protest, but I respect the passion our kids feel about this topic”.
