Following the snub, fans started a petition against Fox titled, “Request Teen Choice Awards & Fox formally apologize for disrespecting Christina Grimmie”. “I ask you to not learn from my example, but from the example of all the greats that have come before me”, he said, before paying tribute to the greatest-Muhammad Ali. “That’s for you baby”.

From Justin Timberlake to Jessica Alba, those topics were honored and addressed as fans took notice.

Still, many took to social media to voice their displeasure that the Teen Choice Awards didn’t pay tribute to Grimmie, let alone acknowledge her once during the show. I’m talking about Aurora, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Minneapolis, Orlando, San Bernardino, Newtown. She asked viewers to tweet the hashtag #StopTheViolence.

The event held at The Forum in Los Angeles, California saw the respective TV show win 2 separate awards in different categories for the series.

Others accused the show of only nominating the 22 year old for ratings.

The Teen Choice Awards took a break from its typical pumped-up performances and handing out surfboards to bring attention to an issue that affects far too many teens: gun violence.

Justin Timberlake, seen here with Kobe Bryant, gave a powerful speech about coming together at the Teen Choice Awards. It seems like just yesterday when we were blasting “Rock Your Body” and crying a river.

When presented with the Decade Award by retired National Basketball Association star Kobe Bryant, Timberlake gave audiences an inspirational speech about the power of compassion.

“I’m here to say you will make mistakes along the way”, Timberlake said during his speech. You will fall down. Then, Timberlake got a little more personal, “I grew up in Millington, Tennessee, just outside of Memphis, where I was blessed to be raised by parents and a family that who taught me some big lessons”.
