Jessica Chastain set to join Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘The Division’

Per THR, Jessica Chastain is in talks to co-star opposite Gyllenhaal in the adaptation, which is based on Ubisoft’s fastest-selling game in history. It wants to get all its ducks in a row before pitching it, so the fact that Interstellar and The Martian star Jessica Chastain, is said to be on board, is a good thing. She also worked in television as well as in stage productions.

Chastain was nominated for a couple of Academy Awards.

The game tells the story of a sleeper cell of operatives – called The Division – who fight to claim New York City back from criminals and opportunists in the wake of a devastating viral attack on the U.S. that brought down the government. And she will star opposite Daniel Bruhl in World War II drama “The Zookeeper’s Wife”.

The Division is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The game broke sales records by earning $330 million worldwide in the first five days since its release, according to Neowin.net.

The director’s chair also appears to be open on this film – and this will be a crucial decision for Gyllenhaal as producer, since his own experience of video game adaptations (Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time) has been less than stellar. It is one of the planned films produced under Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
