“I came out and for the first one (200m) in a while the execution wasn’t ideal but it?s my first one so I can’t complain”.

“If you feel that banning the whole team is the right action then I’m all for it”.

“The key thing is I came out here and won but I’m always hungry for more”.

“I’m definitely feeling good”. “And I wanted to come out here and do what I know what I could have done [in Rio]”. “I’m just really happy and all the glory goes to God”.

Bolt appeared satisfied rather than elated after a victory that has established him fifth in the 2016 world lists behind the 19.74sec run by former world and Olympic 400m champion LaShawn Merritt at the US Olympic trials, and the 19.75 also run at the US trials by world silver medallist Justin Gatlin.

The second and third places, meanwhile, went to Panama’s Edward Alonso and Great Britain’s Adam Gemili, who clocked 20.04 and 20.07 respectively.

American Kendra Harrison sent a huge message to US Athletics as she smashed the Women’s 100m Hurdles 28 year-old world record at The Müller Anniversary Games in London. It was only until fellow American Nia Ali pointed her attention to the scoreboard that Harrison noticed and broke down in tearful celebration.

It came just a fortnight after she could only finish in sixth place at the United States trials, seeing her Olympic hopes crushed.

The time ranks her second in the world this year, making her a real medal contender in Rio.

“I’m just so full of emotions”, said Harrison, whose previous best was the 12.24 she ran in May. After flashing her brilliance with a 12.24-second result at Hayward Field during May’s Prefontaine Classic, her 12.62 seconds in the final at the Olympic Trials on the same track left her in sixth place and off the roster for Rio. It wasn’t the best of my best but it was my first one (of the year), so I’m cool with that. “I concentrated a bit too much maybe, and mucked it up really. I knew I had it in me”. “I’m back”, Harrison said to herself. It’s Kelly Holmes Olympic gold medal record. It’s great to have.

“I was confident already going into Rio but to take a record on home soil going into the Olympics, that couldn’t have made my confidence any higher”.

He now holds world records in the 100 meters (9.58), 200 meters (19.19) and was part of the 4×100 meter relay team that set the current standard at the London Olympics (36.84).

The world record had stood since 1988 and was previously held by Yordanka Donkova of Bulgaria.

Gatlin, 34, who took silver behind Bolt at last year’s world championships in the 100m and 200m, has been one of Bolt’s most consistent rivals in recent years.

“I clashed arms with someone after the final hurdle and that threw me”, she said.
