Jessica Williams leaving as ‘Daily Show’ correspondent
Williams, the program’s youngest-ever correspondent, was just 22 years old when she joined then-host Jon Stewart on the series.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the comedienne is set to leave this Thursday to focus on a show she’s working on with Comedy Central going forward.
Jessica Williams is slaying the media game right now with her hit show 2 Dope Queens and her iconic position with The Daily Show. [Laughs] I picked up everything and moved out of my parents’ house and into New York City. Many had hoped Williams would be Jon Stewart’s replacement when he left the show past year.
This political season should have been an embarrassment of riches for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, but instead it’s turned out to be just an embarrassment. “I feel like I’m growing up and graduating”. “The main thing about the show is that I’m excited to, in a silly and amusing way, be able to explore ideas of feminism and race and LGBT issues-things that I care about and that I talk about on The Daily Show and that I deal with on 2 Dope Queens”, Williams told EW.
“It’s so bittersweet”, the star told Entertainment Weekly.
Jessica Williams is moving on. During a 2014 interview with Mother Jones, Williams explained what she thought about having so much diversity on the show. “We have one of the most diverse casts out there, but we’re not putting ourselves in a box”.

“The Daily Show” is losing one of its most popular correspondents. Williams said Stewart was always thoughtful and smart, and she always had a lot of say in how her role would be portrayed. Keeping Williams in the family seems especially vital for the network as the last few years has seen former correspondents John Oliver and Samantha Bee make headlines with their current shows on HBO and TBS, respectively.
