Jet crash in UK, four dead

An executive jet carrying four people crashed onto a auto auction centre while trying to land at an airport in southern England on Friday (Saturday NZ Time).

Eyewitnesses said the light aircraft burst into flames on impact when it crashed at Blackbushe Airport just after 15:00 BST. She added that the airfield has been closed.

“That soon spread. After 10 or 12 minutes the fire brigade got there and managed to get on top of it quickly, which was fortunate because at one stage it felt like the fire was going to rip across the whole auto park”.

The plane, believed to be a small Learjet, is said to have come down at British vehicle Auctions in Yateley, which is on the site of Blackbushe Airport.

Witnesses speaking to the Telegraph claimed the aircraft clipped a fence and flipped over before landing on a number of cars just after 3pm. Sadly there were no survivors.

However, police have warned people to avoid the area.

The aircraft a Brazilian-built Embraer Phenom 300 was completely destroyed in the crash leaving behind a fireball and large plume of toxic black smoke.

Videos and social media posts quickly arrived on the internet showing the billowing black smoke rising from the deep red flames that told the location of the crash.

In a message to motorists, they said: “We’re dealing with an air emergency incident at Blackbushe Airport”. “I really expect everyone concerned is ok”. “There were four people onboard including the pilot”.
