JetBlue is now offering free Amazon Video on some flights
“Customers can binge-watch their favorite series on Amazon Video, including the new critically acclaimed Amazon Original The Man in the High Castle, catch-up on the latest movies or stream top-rated children’s programming, instantly while in the sky”.

Now from today the new service provides Amazon Prime members with the ability to enjoy unlimited, on-demand entertainment whilst participating in airline travel.
But there’s a catch: To take advantage of the promotion, you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member.
Passengers who pay for Amazon’s $99-per-year Prime membership can stream TV shows and movies on their own devices – including iOS and Android smartphones and tablets – at no additional cost. But Amazon’s not leaving out non-subscribers, necessarily – they’ll be able to rent from Amazon’s video library without ponying up for onboard Internet. Larger carriers led by American Airlines Group Inc. charge for onboard Wi-Fi.
The service will be enabled on all of JetBlue’s Airbus A321 and A320 aircraft this year, and will roll out to its Embraer E190 aircraft in 2016. Amazon expects that most planes that are in service will have streaming videos and music by Thanksgiving.
Passengers on about 160 JetBlue aircraft, or three-quarters of the fleet, will be able to access more than 40,000 titles through the Amazon.com Inc. video streaming service via free Wi- Fi on flights by Thursday.

As part of the multiyear partnership, “Amazon on JetBlue” is now part of JetBlue’s entertainment hub, “The Hub”, and it will also include activities at JetBlue’s Terminal 5 at JFK airport in NY. As Bloomberg Business puts it, “Amazon will manage customer relationships for major media companies the way pay-TV services do, according to the people”, even allowing users to log into other streaming services using Amazon details.
