Brandon Marshall should still be getting props for how he straight-up willed himself to a touchdown against the Colts.
The Jets were feeling really good about themselves coming into their game against the Eagles. As a trio of Philadelphia defenders surrounded him and began to bring him down, he lateraled the ball backward to tight end Jeff Cumberland.
The ball bounced to the ground, and linebacker Jordan Hicks accepted the gift fumble recovery, returning it two yards to the New York 45-yard line. But instead of going down quietly, he saw a teammate over his right shoulder… and tried pitching the football back for a lateral. The 15-yard gain was their longest to that point and would have been just their second first down of the game had Marshall not decided to pitch the ball away.
