NEW YORK (AP) – The New York Jets are heading into the first week of the regular season with four tight ends, four quarterbacks – and a handful of new faces.

The Tennessee Titans claimed tight end Jace Amaro off waivers from the New York Jets on Sunday and waived defensive lineman Medhi Abdesmad. He could revert to injured reserve if unclaimed, but an injury settlement is the likelier scenario.

The Jets have waived three players – CB Dexter McDougle, S Ronald Martin and RB Dominique Williams – and have waived/injured RB Khiry Robinson with a broken right leg.

McDougle was the third former pick of Idzik – the Jets’ general manager for two years until he was sacked in 2014 – released by successor Mike Maccagnan in just two days.

Petty bruised his throwing shoulder in the final preseason game, but it wasn’t serious enough to warrant injured reserve.

“Waiver AcquisitionsBowman (6’4”, 240) was signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in May. He had 20 carries for 67 yards and 17 catches for 155 yards in his three seasons.

Milliner signed a fully guaranteed, four-year ,661,000 contract before his rookie season. This preseason he had two receptions for 20 yards before the Chiefs waived him Saturday.

Bowman and Pope are rookies out of South Alabama and Jacksonville State, respectively. Robinson and Zac Stacy were expected to battle for the job, but Stacy, who broke his ankle last season, was released after failing his physical in July.

One day after setting its initial 53-man roster, NY also was awarded running back Troymaine Pope from Seattle and cornerback Darryl Roberts from New England on Sunday.
