Jets Get a Uniquely Interesting 2016 Schedule

After playing only the Bills in the first half of the season, the Jets will receive their last five AFC East tests in the last eight games – at Miami (Nov. 6), vs. New England (Nov. 27 after the bye week), home for Miami (Dec. 17), at the Patriots (Dec. 24), and at the Bills (Jan. 1). It opens Sunday, September 11, with the Bills taking on Head Coach Rex Ryan’s former team, the Baltimore Ravens, including former teammates Joe Flacco and Tyrod Taylor, in Baltimore.

Jets and Patriots dominate prime timeBoth New York and New England have a total of five prime time games on their 2016 schedules. It is the second straight season the Patriots will open the season in prime time and the first time in team history the team will open the season on Sunday Night Football. The Bills swept the Jets in both of their meetings last season.

The New York Jets’ 2016 schedule was released Thursday and ranks as tied for 7th toughest in the entire league.

The Bills also announced the dates and starting times of three preseason games.

The NFL schedule was released on Thursday and the New York Jets are probably not happy with what they saw.

The Jets played the Colts last season on Monday Night Football and won in astonishing fashion, forcing the Colts into multiple mistakes at Lucas Oil Stadium and continued their winning ways.

This season, the NFL will use a “Tri-Cast” distribution model of broadcast (CBS/NBC), cable (NFL Network) and digital (Twitter) for 10 Thursday Night Football games. “I know that will be an emotional time for everyone, as it was in 2011”. Before previous year, Buffalo had not had two prime-time games in one season since 2009.

November 13 vs. Los Angeles Rams: One of the big questions in this game will be who quarterbacks the Rams. All of the Jets’ first six road games will be back-to-back on the road with a home game to break them up. We proved a year ago closing with four wins at home so that’s a good thing. Average those out for the remaining schedule and the Jets average opponent is expected to win an average of 8.4 games in 2016, the third toughest strength of schedule.
