Jets place Willie Colon on season-ending injured reserve

The Jets’ final injury report of the week before Thursday night’s game against Buffalo fell about as expected from the week’s practice developments.

Colon, a Hofstra product, has battled chronic knee problems and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee before training camp.

Neither team had media access Wednesday, so Jets coach Todd Bowles and Bills coach Rex Ryan could not be asked questions about their injured players. Though Winters had a good game earlier this season in a start against the Dolphins, he has played poorly for the majority of his National Football League career.

Cromartie has missed just one game since he entered the National Football League in 2006. Bowles said Milliner isn’t ready to play safety at this point. But the latest injury setback could signal the end of a solid career.

Cornerback Dee Milliner was added to the roster from short-term injured reserve. However, the injury wasn’t believed to be serious enough to cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Winters started 12 games at left guard in 2013, and six at the position last season before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Slot CB Buster Skrine (shoulder, hand) is questionable, and SS Calvin Pryor (ankle) is out. RB Bilal Powell, also dealing with an ankle injury, was limited at practice and was doubtful for the game.
