Jets, QB Fitzpatrick not talking as camp opens

The five-month standoff between quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets ended Wednesday night, about where everyone figured it would. What it means, however, is that the Colts will face Fitzpatrick once again this season.

JetsInsider.com sources along with many others say the two sides are still at a stalemate despite reports that the Jets have offered several different contract scenarios to Fitzpatrick.

Russell Westbrook felt Kevin Durant backstab him with the decision to sign with Warriors?

Second-year Jets head coach Todd Bowles has not seemed concerned about his quarterback situation even if Fitzpatrick decides not to return. Bowles could not afford to let the Jets get into a humiliating season by waiting for Fitzpatrick to make his decision. The NY Daily News reported that one contract offered was as high as $24MM with $15MM guaranteed. There have been rumors of the New England Patriots wanting to offer Fitzpatrick after Tom Brady stated that he will not appeal the ruling on the deflation case against him. He showed up at a charity golf tournament last week and dropped in on wide receiver Brandon Marshall just a couple days ago. “He has a better grasp of it going into training camp and we’ll see what he does”. Maybe both sides need help getting there.

Essentially the 33-year-old Fitzpatrick wants franchise quarterback money and the Jets aren’t biting at giving the career journeyman top dollar.
