Jets rally to force OT, beat Giants 23-20

As sad as that is, it is the only major bright spot on this continuously disappointing Giants team.

Pretty much anyone not named Robert Ayers or Jason Pierre-Paul was invisible Sunday.

I expect the Jets to let Chris Ivory loose, because when that happens, they tend to win.

“I don’t even remember the final drive”. “I said, ‘Hey, I’ve been in the league 10 years, haven’t made the playoffs”. He chose to be overaggressive, and it cost the Giants a football game that they needed to win. Marshall’s nine TDs are the most by a Jets receiver since Santana Moss had 10 in 2003.

On how he would describe the win, Decker said, “Like I was saying before, this is a statement game for us as far as coming from behind and winning one”. The Giants will now have a tough hill to climb, sitting at seven losses. Beckham especially is not taking this well. “Losing sucks. Not finishing sucks, but that was the case today and all we can do is move forward”. After that, the Giants host Carolina and Philadelphia with a road game in Minnesota in between.

“It’s unfortunate”, Beckham said.

There is also something heartbreaking about the fact that the play resulted in the Giants’ fourth loss this season that came within the last 13 seconds of a game. After a Randy Bullock extra point, the Jets had tied the game and sent it to overtime. “Like I said, you just keep moving forward and learn from it”.

Today, the 6-5 Jets are squaring off against their big brother, the 5-6 Giants in an extremely meaningful game for both teams. “Other than Christmas, December never really is a fun time for me”. “I have to keep striking the same ball”.

A football fans, we still witnessed a fascinating game with tons of plot twists and excitement.

Marshall had to be restrained from going after Jenkins late in the second quarter.

“No, I wasn’t surprised”.

That play ended up being huge because it directly contributed to a fateful decision that Coughlin would make later in the game. A chip shot field goal would have put the Giants’ up by 13, and left the Jets’, who were lifeless to that point, all but dead. “We’ve got to come out and do this every week”.

“As a defense, we try to eliminate touchdowns, if anything, give up three”. You have them, you win. “I stand by it”. We had New England, we didn’t get it done. It’s something that you either fix or you go on. It was real helpful, whether it was Kevin Patullo on the sideline or Todd just kind of talking through to us or talking in the huddle with the guys. He had a great game for us not only on the touchdown catch, but the way he runs and hits the hole and some of those catches out of the backfield. “We score, the game is over”, Pugh said. The drive went rather smoothly, all things considered. Just talking about whether it was about time outs, or we’re going for it on fourth down get a chunk here or play within yourself. “He’s 500 pounds and I went after him”.

The Jets defense, the most reliable part of the team this afternoon in spite of its penalty ridden second half, forced the Giants to a fourth down situation again.

“It’s something that I don’t have the exact answer to”. We’ve got to score in the green zone when we get down there. “Not only do you have to stay with your team, but you have to make sure your kids experience the same torture and hardship that you have”.
