Jets sign kicker Bullock, place Folk on IR

He has made 80.3 percent of his field goal tries, going 61 of 76, and is 69 of 71 on extra points – with both misses coming earlier this season with the new distance of 33 yards. The former fifth-round pick had an inside track with management, as Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan was in the Houston Texans organization when he was drafted.

The Jets brought in four kickers, including Garrett Hartley, for tryouts to fill in for Folk before Bullock won the job.

Folk has a right quad strain that was expected to sideline him for at least four weeks. He missed his rookie year because of a groin tear.

Folk said he heard a “pop” in his leg, but didn’t think at first that the injury was as serious as it is. “Now could someone come back running in four weeks?” Yeah. Doing the kicking motion? “Just got to let it heal”.

NY Jets K Nick Folk strained his quadriceps muscle during pregame warmups on Sunday as the Jets prepared to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bullock is 61-for-76 on field-goal attempts in his National Football League career, including 35-for-38 inside the 40-yard line.

Folk, 31, has been a consistent and durable kicker for the Jets, who signed him in 2010.
