Jets top Cowboys, keep pressure on in AFC Wild Card

“We’re on our way to becoming one of those types of teams if we can keep it up”.

The New York Jets knew what they had to do Saturday night to remain in the AFC wild card race. After a strong performance, the defense let one long pass completion put the New York Jets into position for the winning field goal with only seconds remaining.

“He made some timely throws”, Bowles said. That set up Bullock’s game victor. “I thought we had that look the whole game”. Moore hooked up with Bryant four times for 50 yards and threw him seven passes on the night. Gang Green moved to 9-5 tonight with a 19-16 win over the Cowboys in Dallas.

Another game where Darren McFadden made some big runs, and another night where the defense stood tall while the offense gave it little help.

Things got off to a rocky start for Moore too.

The loss means the Cowboys are eliminated from playoff contention, slipping to 4-10.

The Jets victory certainly wasn’t the prettiest of wins.

“For us, this year that’s not going to happen”, coach Jason Garrett said. “But that doesn’t diminish the work everyone has put in”.

The Cowboys have had a roller coaster 2015 season full of injuries and it finally came to a halt in Arlington Texas in a hard fought game with the Jets.

The Cowboys had to turn to Kellen Moore at quarterback less than five minutes into the second quarter after a horrid start by Matt Cassel, who threw an egregious interception and was also sacked for a 19-yard loss.

Moore completed 15-of-25 passes for 158 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions.

That gave the Cowboys the ball on the Jets’ 43, but Jerry Jones’ team found a way to squander the gifted opportunity.

But I can’t say the former Boise State quarterback cost them the game.

Garrett did not commit to Moore starting next week at Buffalo.

Chris Ivory led the Jets’ rushers with 13 carries for 37 yards.

That makes two in the last three games. “The way he’s leading our team on and off the field, we couldn’t ask for a better quarterback”.

Fitzpatrick appeared to have led the Jets to a go-ahead field goal in the waning seconds of the first half, but Bullock’s 40-yarder was erased by an illegal shift penalty on Leger Douzable. Instead, Calvin Pryor intercepted.

Bailey followed with a 38-yard field goal for a 13-9 advantage. That’ s two consecutive games with at least 100 after totaling 64 yards in the previous two weeks.

But once in the red zone, the Jets held firm. The opening drive stalled out, though, and they had to settle for a 27-yard Dan Bailey field goal and an early 3-0 lead. His final interception came on the Hail Mary to Bryant, who was surrounded by three NY defenders.

After faking a throw and stumbling when he tried to change directions, Cassel threw blindly to a spot where Darrelle Revis was by himself for an easy interception.

Notes: Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar tore his Achilles tendon and will need surgery….

The cut was a reminder of the Jets’ season.

The Jets did not stall on their next march. He was 10-of-12 for 138 yards and a touchdown on the Jets’ final two drives, including this attractive deep strike to Kenbrell Thompkins for what would prove to be the dagger.
